Experience

I have climbed mountains and lead groups all over the world, including USA, New Zealand, South Africa, Peru, Bolivia, China-Tibet and Kyrgyzstan. I have been to Kilimanjaro/Meru five times, in 2018 was the first South African female to summit Manaslu and and in 2019 became the first South African to climb Dhaulagiri reaching 7400m before bad weather turned me around.

I am an accomplished corporate executive who has significant exposure to remote communities.  I have extensive leadership and organisational skills to support your mountaineering progress.  I was voted among the Top 100 women as global inspirational woman in mining.

My very first ever mountain summit was Lions Head in Cape Town with Table Mountain in the background. My 8 year old self scribbled from the back of a postcard that “I climbed it right to the top”! Fast forward and I am a seasoned mountaineer, who is enthusiastic and passionate about sharing mountain adventures with others. I am one of only two female instructors on the 40 year history of boys Veld ‘n Vlei courses (now Outward Bound: South Africa) and was the Chief Instructor on the girl’s 1992 course. I guided for the National Parks Boards at Tsitsikamma and Natures Valley. In 1997 I became the first female leader after 26 years for the Mountain Club of South Africa’s July Camp in the rugged Drakensburg.

In  2018 after my Manaslu first I was awarded the prestigious East Cape Leopard award by the Mountain Club of South Africa (Eastern Cape) for this achievement.
